We’re delighted to announce that the national winner of SIE’s 2014 Get Enterprising competition has been selected,Cavid Nadirov from Edinburgh College of Art!
Get Enterprising is a fun entry level competition that takes place during Freshers Week and asks students to identify a problem and suggest a new business or service that would solve that problem. It encourages students to start thinking like an entrepreneur and look for opportunities in their everyday lives. A local winner is selected at each institution in Scotland to win a £20 prize then moves through to the national round for further judging.
The everyday problem Cavid choose was “the tendency to over consume in the 21st century”. His solution to this problem would be to create a sharing economy platform, where people can lend/borrow items such as books and bicycles and share rides, flats, knowledge and their time. The platform would not only increase sharing and decrease consumption, it would also decrease waste. Congratulations to Cavid who will receive a £100 prize!
Thank you to everyone who participated. You can a full list of the local winners below. SIE would like to encourage everyone to consider taking their idea further with FRESH IDEAS which is now open for entry!
