Data sharing

We take your data very seriously and will only share it in specific circumstances

  1. With your consent
If our advisors feel that a student’s idea would benefit from support from their local enterprise service or a specialist organisation, we may pass contact information on to facilitate an introduction. This will only be done with a student’s consent. We may also work with you on case studies which showcase how you were helped and what you have achieved.
  2. For legal reasons
We may share your information if we are required by law officials or government request.

Information retention and deletion

Your information is retained securely after you have engaged with SIE and under strict conditions. Two years after your graduation date, which is the end of the period you are eligible for SIE support, we will seek to minimise the data we retain in accordance with best practice.

You have the right to request that your identifying data is deleted. To arrange this you can contact info@sie.ac.uk.

Storage of Your Data

The data that we collect from you will normally be stored at a destination inside the European Economic Area (“EEA“) and will not be transported out of the EEA. However, our e-newsletters and email updates are managed via MailChimp which is based outside of the EEA with the transfer and storage of subscriber data in full compliance with EU-U.S. Privacy Shield and Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield regimes.

Data Security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed.  If we have any suspected data security breach we will notify you and any applicable regulator where we are legally required to do so.
