The Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE), in collaboration with three Innovation Centres (Digital Health and Care Institute, CENSIS and The Datalab), is running a series of Inspiration workshops aimed at students looking for an innovative topic for coursework, such as graded units, or final year or post graduate projects/dissertations. You want to stand out from the crowd and we want your hard work to have a life beyond graduation, and we’re going to help make that happen!
The theme for the first Scottish Innovative Student Award is ‘Innovation and the Home’ and will give you an opportunity to innovate around areas like smart care and eHealth in the home, cybersecurity, environmental and energy issues, the circular economy, and many more. Innovations could be technical, social or commercial, depending on your own interests and areas of study.
During the workshops, the Innovation Centres will provide valuable insights into these key areas and the potential opportunities for innovation, and SIE will show you how you can identify opportunities and start to explore your own ideas.
Should you progress to the Gold phase, your final idea must include a digital theme or application but we actively encourage students studying any subject discipline to enter as we are looking for a diversity of ideas. Not a techie? Not a problem. We want you to identify a problem that needs to be solved and by participating in the Awards, we will help you to develop a solution.
By participating in the Scottish Innovative Student Award programme, you will have the opportunity to make an impact on some of the big social and economic issues facing Scotland both today and in the future. It may also open up new and exciting opportunities for you following graduation. Throughout the Programme there is a dual focus on workplace or social innovation for graduate employability and new venture creation for entrepreneurship and you will be supported through all the stages to realise the potential in your idea and chose a pathway that is right for you
By participating in the workshop and registering your participation afterwards at www.sie.ac.uk/SISA you will be awarded a Scottish Innovative Student Award Bronze Certificate.
