The COVID-19 pandemic has brought considerable challenges to teaching in our universities and colleges, and SIE’s activities are no exception. In November we had the exciting opportunity to deliver our SISA Level 2 workshops entirely online.
The whole team worked hard to ensure that this new virtual experience replicated and even enhanced the learning outcomes of SISA Level 2 workshops, with plenty of interaction, facilitated group work and collaboration in real-time.
Over 100 students participated in the sessions from Universities across Scotland, and we were thrilled by the level of hard work, ingenuity and enthusiasm shown by all the students. Feedback from participants was extremely positive.
Speaking about the workshops, Ann Davidson, SIE Education Director:
“2020 has been a year like no other. We’ve seen tremendous disruption in all aspects of our lives. The innovative competencies that students develop through SISA are even more important in this new environment, helping them to respond to change quickly and identify and respond to opportunities effectively.
Moving SISA Level 2 online was a challenge for the team, but we were delighted that the students took to it so well. Everything went smoothly and I’m pleased that we have a successful online model to continue as long as we need to. And, with many employers stating that the Covid 19 disruption has changed their working practices for good around virtual working, the fact that students are developing and enhancing their innovation competencies in a virtual training environment is preparing them for their future workplaces.“
For those who have achieved their Level 1 SISA certificates, registration is now open for the next round of Level 2 workshops to be held in February and March 2021 (dates available here). Following the success of the first two digital events, SIE recommends early registration to ensure a place at the preferred time and date.Educators who want to discuss SISA accreditation in their institution can contact firstname.lastname@example.org
