How we use your data

We use the information collected for the following purposes:

  1. Providing enterprise and innovation support services
We use the information collected from you to ensure you get the best possible service to suit your needs.
  2. Research and development
In order to help us to keep improving our services, identify needs and develop new services we may use information for research and analysis.
  3. Monitoring and demonstrating long term impact
It is important that we are able to identify and demonstrate the long term impact of early support. This could, for example, include attending an SIE workshop, which led to entering a competition, and funding or investment secured received after the period someone is eligible for SIE support. That information is retained on the basis of legitimate interest and reported to our funders to help support policy and inform Scottish Government priorities.
  4. Communications from SIE
We may use the information we collect to communicate with you via your consented forms of communication, including but not limited to one of the SIE e-newsletters.

    This could include:
    – Information on new opportunities relevant to you or your business idea
    – Information on new SIE services or events

Change of purpose

We only use your personal information for the purposes we have described unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another purpose that does not conflict with the original purpose.

Automated decision making

This is when your data is used by an electronic system to make decisions without involving a human. In providing our services, SIE does not utilise automated decision making and we do not anticipate situations where we would do so. We will also not provide your data to any organisation for the purposes of automated decision making, for example credit control agencies.
