SAID Business School – What is social innovation and why does it matter?
Fri, 19 August 2016
The Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship is a social impact centre within Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford. It has a global focus, with a mission to accelerate the impact of ‘entrepreneuring’ activity that aims to transform unjust or unsatisfactory systems and practices.
In 2007 it authored an in-depth report on how to help improve societies’ capacity to solve their problems. It includes a formal definition of social innovation and it’s importance. It also includes excellent examples of world-changing social innovations, such as the The Open University, NHS Direct, Oxfam and Greenpeace.
