On the 12th of May, SIE attended the Scottish Business Awards at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. Marketing & Events Assistant, Kirstin Hutchinson, shares some highlights from the evening.
We had a fantastic time at the 3rd annual Scottish Business Awards along with 1800 businessmen and women. SIE’s guests included young entrepreneurs Victoria Hamilton, Kyle White, Ross Pert, Rosalind Romer and Chidozie Obioyoke. We were also joined by our three Interns of the Year, Vilius, Lux and Selina.
The evening began with a networking reception followed by an introduction from Sir Tom Hunter, the first ever home-grown billionaire in Scotland. Journalist Alistair Stewart then hosted a Q&A session on stage with Sir Richard Branson. Richard spoke about starting out as an entrepreneur, his business beliefs and of course, going to space!
“A good reason to be an entrepreneur is a good cause, not just money”.
Richard’s inspiring message was followed by a glittering awards ceremony hosted by Michael McIntyre, dinner and a live auction.
All of the profits from the Scottish Business Awards are used to support various charities that promote businesses and entrepreneurs which tackle social challenges such as poverty and homelessness through enterprise.
