Nine SIE Alumni win Funding from Scottish EDGE

SIE gathered with Scotland’s entrepreneurial community at the RBS Headquarters in Edinburgh to watch the final pitches of the Scottish EDGE Round 7 on Monday 7th December. Scottish EDGE received the highest number of applicants ever for round 7 so the standard was very high. We want to congratulate all of the finalists and, for those who didn’t win, reiterate EDGE’s closing remarks; “it’s not a no, just not yet”.

We are very proud that nine of the round 7 winners are SIE Entrepreneurs and Alumni and received a total of £265,000 in funding.

Young EDGE
Directors of a company in the 18-30 age category. Awards of up to £10,000.

· Amanda Day, All Day Designs Ltd – £10,000
· James McIlroy , EuroBiotix – £12,500
· Craig Johnston, Kitsch Drinks – £12,500
· MindMate – £10,000
· Michael Harkins, Turtle Pack – £10,000
· Michael Tougher, Spark and Rocket – £10,000

Higgs EDGE category
A special technology award aimed at entrepreneurs who have an engineering, science or technology based business. Total prize fund of £250,000.

· Orfeas Boteas, Krotos Dehumaniser – £100,000

Scottish EDGE
Identifying Scotland’s top young, early stage and high growth potential entrepreneurs. Awards of up to £100,000 (50% loan).

·Amanda Day, All Day Designs Ltd – £75,000
·Christopher McCann, Snap40 – £30,000

Round Eight of the Scottish Edge will open for applications in January 2016. If you’d like to apply, register on their website for the latest news.
