SIE Entrepreneurs Win Big at the Converge Challenge 2015 Final

Last night, we headed to the University of Strathclyde for the Converge Challenge Dinner. We were in good company as eight SIE Entrepreneurs were attending as finalists. 11 awards were presented during the evening with a total fund of £100,000.

The first award to be presented was the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award. The Award was given to SIE Entrepreneur, Hannah Dimsdale (Teadough) from the University of Edinburgh. She received a cash prize of £1,000 andautomatic membership in to the Future Leaders programme at Entrepreneurial Scotland.

The winner of the NEW KickStart Digital Entrepreneur Award was given to MindMate from the University of Glasgow. This was a new award for 2015 and credited MindMate for the digital marketing of their project. Mindmate were winners of the Young Innovators Challenge in 2015.

After dinner and a keynote from John Swinney, Deputy FirstMinister of Scotland, the winner of the Converge Challenge Social Enterprisecompetition (run in partnership with Firstport) was announced. EuroBiotix received £5,000 cash to help them make a difference. EuroBiotix were also winners of the Young Innovators Challenge in 2015.

The Converge Challenge KickStart competition was presented by Founder of snap40 and the 2014 KickStart winner Christopher McCann. The winner, Xi: cross linking analysis software received £2,000 cash and two runners-up collected £1,500 each.

The final award, Converge Challenge 2015, was presented by Deputy First Minister John Swinney MSP. The top prize went to Richard Walker of Photon Force Ltd and we are delighted that the third prize was given to Rebecca Pick (Personal Guardian) from the University of Strathclyde. Rebecca is the first undergraduate student to have won a Converge Challenge award. She was a winner of the Young Innovators Challenge in 2015 and is a former SIE Intern.

Congratulations to all of the winners, finalists and entrants to this year’s competition. We’re really proud to be part of the Entrepreneurial Community in Scotland so it was great to cheer everyone on.
